Common Raccoon picture
The Common Raccoon in this picture can be found throughout much of the US except for portions of the Rockies, Arizona, Neveda and Utah. The Raccoon is nocturnal and leads a solitary life except during breeding season. During cold winter months a raccoon may sleep for days or weeks at a time but they do not hibernate. They can go for months without eating during the winter.
